From The Source Talks with Rob Mackay @ Open Source Arts

We’re REALLY excited to be hosting our second ‘From The Source’ talk this November with award winning sound artist and composer Rob Mackay! Come along to hear all about Rob’s adventures through the world of sound, with a discussion, food, drinks and a screening of a selection from Rob’s AMAZING audio-visual catalogue to finish off the evening!

You can’t lose!

Rob’s recent projects have moved towards a cross-disciplinary approach, including soundscape ecology, audiovisual installation work, and human-computer interaction. His work has been performed in 18 countries (including broadcasts on BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 1 and Radio France), and a number of his pieces have received international awards (Bourges, Hungarian Radio, La Muse en Circuit). He is director of HEARO (Hull Electroacoustic Resonance Orchestra), and is currently Chair of UKISC (UK and Ireland Soundscape Community). More information at https://robmackay.net.

The event is Pay What You Decide, and we want to be completely transparent with our community about how much things cost when you’re making that decision.

Collaborating, also known as open sourcing, involves making the source code (of some instructions or design) accessible to anyone to use, modify and take inspiration from, according to what they wish to do! We believe money is a resource, and like other resources, the way it is used defines the impact it creates. We want to pay people properly for their time, and keep money flowing in our community.
