Aire Place Mills, Kirkstall Rd, Leeds LS3 1JL

Suitable for calisthenics lovers, cross fitters wanting to improve on form, dancers, circus performers, yoga practitioners and beginners. All you need is to believe and do your best. There is no better training to make every muscle in your body work!

Incorporating headstands, arm balances and handstands into your training programme can take a while to master – the journey is worth it as will help you to improve your confidence and fitness.  Believe in yourself and with practice you can achieve inversions you may think are not possible.

This workshop is a great way for you to make that start or refine your existing skills. It will equip you with the foundations and technical knowledge required to start an effective and informed practice in these key areas, which you can then take away and develop your own training programme. We aim to run these workshops regularly so you can self-practice and come back to continue to develop/build upon your training.

You will be supported to prepare and work towards your goals in a safe way. With a dynamic warm up and targeted strength and flexibility based exercises to help improve form and body awareness.

A fun and interactive workshop where we will explore some arm balances.

No previous inversion experience is necessary, only a desire to be upside down and a willingness to learn.

This workshop is open to those of all abilities, from those looking to find their first headstand to those looking to lengthen their free-standing handstand hold.

All the tools and techniques are progressive, ensuring that everyone will take something away from the afternoon.

The course will focus in the following areas:

  • Confidence
  • Warm up
  • Handstand foundation including Handstand technique focusing on joint health
  • Flexibility and conditioning exercises: using your own body weight and equipment such as resistance bands to strengthen core, shoulders, wrists, hips, and legs
  • Building stamina
  • How to kick into L kick
  • Exercises to build up to tuck, pike and straddle
  • Movement into shapes
  • Headstands and arm balances
  • Different drills to get into and stay in handstand, as well as some more advanced variations, such as one-handed stand training preparation for shifting body weight
  • Working in pairs/teams; how to spot each other safely

Natalie is trained in aerial arts and teaches both Yoga and Aerial circus. Passionate about calisthenics and handstands she has been guided in the art of hand balancing and conditioning by international hand balancer teachers.
