Postponed: Make Your Own Silver Ring Workshop @ Open Source Arts

Join us for a crafty afternoon, and make your own solid sterling silver ring from scratch using traditional silver-smithing techniques.

This workshop is suitable for all beginners and will teach you the foundation skills of jewellery making.

During the workshop you will learn all the following jewellery making techniques: ring sizing, annealing, soldering, forming, texturing, oxidizing, filing and polishing. The cost of silver is included in the price of the class, and your ring will be ready to wear when you go home at the end of the workshop.

Your workshop tutor will be Ella Hay, a local silversmith who has many years’ experience crafting eco-friendly and sustainable jewellery for her brand Sleeping Sea. Ella will be on hand to guide you through all the steps of the process, and will teach you everything you need to know to set you up on the start of your jewellery-making journey.

The silver used in the class is recycled and eco-friendly 925 solid sterling silver.

It’s best to wear rough clothes with long sleeves, tie hair back, no scarves or hanging clothing that could get caught in machinery. Closed-toe shoes are a must as we’ll be handling heavy objects, and if a participant requires glasses to read, it’s important to have these with them as we’ll be working with small, delicate rings.
