Motion: Variant State [bicontinental] / Wood, Flesh and Spirit

£5 otd

Motion is a series of concerts which aims to provide a space for improvised performance across multiple disciplines, including (but not limited to): music, dance, physical theatre and performance art.

Come to see performers take dives into the depths of the unknown; voyage into creative waters unchartered; journey into the outer regions of imagination, to find new sounds, spaces, movements and forms.

A new episode of Wood, Flesh and Spirit by performers Mati Torres and Anna Cabré-Verdiell will open the night.

Wood, Flesh and Spirit are site specific scenes; on this occasion, a unique instant composition conceived to be performed at and for this new edition of Motion at Open Source Arts.

Wood, Flesh and Spirit is a game, a call-response collaboration between audience and performers which is responsible for the unfolding of the story behind the scenery.

Wood, Flesh and Spirit is movement, stillness, contemplation and action altogether and all apart.

This trio is a collaboration between Jesse Kenas Collins, analog electronics and feedback systems (Boston, U.S.A); Alistair Quietsch, bass and electronics (Scotland); and Michael Rosenstein (Boston, U.S.A), distressed sound recordings, electronics, and amplified surfaces. It began as a result of the intersection of long-term musical collaborations between Collins/Quietsch when Quietsch was based in Boston as well as the Boston based duo of Collins/Rosenstein. We began working on the idea of a trio in the Spring of 2019, trading recordings of rehearsals back and forth and layering parts on top. All playing is collectively improvised.
