Welcome to OSA’s open – to – all, music session, where aspiring musicians, of virtually all levels, can meet with local educators and work through arrangements, look at accompaniment playing and improvisation techniques.  The focus is on ensemble-playing in an informal environment, led by experienced professional musicians with a breadth of resources to facilitate a social, interactive musical experience.

The genres covered will vary, depending on the interests of the group, but we can accommodate everything from folk to funk; rock to reggae; swing to ska; classical to klezmer. As the group repertoire starts to take shape there will be ample opportunities to collaborate and perform within the community or here, at OSA.

You are welcome to simply turn up on the day, but if we have an idea that you are coming and with what instrument, then we can provide the necessary back line (amps, mics, DJ turntables) to make sure everyone is properly accommodated.

Enthusiasm is more important than ability and all levels are welcome, but the emphasis is on the enrichment of an existing musical path, rather than complete beginner level. These sessions are not lessons and there is the understanding that you have some previous experience of the instrument you are playing. They are an opportunity for you to practice and play with likeminded people, in a safe and welcoming space.
