*Open Source Arts took the decision to close our building on Kirkstall Road on 12th March, in order to reduce social contact, and limit the spread of Coronavirus. The team are currently working from home, and we are keeping a close eye on the situation as it progresses.
We believe it is vitally important to continue to move, connect, chat, and take time to pause and breathe, and are exploring how we could continue as many as possible of our activities online.
We won’t be taking new bookings/hires that fall during this period. If possible – explore how existing bookings can be re-jigged to be held online. If not, then refunds will be offered to tickets already bought.*
We are committed to offer an inclusive and open space for all to practice their discipline, whether that be: Staff twirling, Poi, Devil Stick, Contact Manipulation, Fans, Stilts, Rola Bola or any other weird and wonderful props you may have.
These sessions open up Open Source Arts’ wonderful space to all thing prop twirling, with 2 floors of circus madness there is always space for you come meet and train with other like-minded circus folk, learn new skills and develop your repertoire.
Come explore what is possible when we are in the inspirational setting of having plenty of equipment to flow with, lots of time, and loads of enthusiasm!
***Please note: These sessions are not lessons but skill-shares – for those who would like to attend some introductory workshops or classes, please keep an eye on the OSA events page. If you don’t see what you need, put in a request! We are happy to oblige.
The event is using our Collaborative Finance Model!
Collaborating, also known as open sourcing, involves making the source code (of some instructions or design) accessible to anyone to use, modify and take inspiration from, according to what they wish to do! We believe money is a resource, and like other resources, the way it is used defines the impact it creates. We want to pay people properly for their time, and keep money flowing in our community.
£30p/hr space hire and venue manager x 3: £90
£10/hr admin, marketing, space prep, rigging, insurance : £70
To make this activity start to become sustainable for all who are involved, if 12 people come, that divides to £13 each. If 20 people come, this divides to £8 each.
Now you know how much it costs for this activity, it is entirely up to you how much you wish to contribute!
