“Rebel Spirit Sound System was conceived in late 2016 due to the joining of three like minded soundmen who shared a common vision to re-invigorate the Leeds soundsystem scene. Combining the knowledge, skills and production capabilities of two long time apprentices of Iration Steppas and the engineering and technical ability of the owner of an existing small sound system paved the way for something special to be created.”

“SoundMag is a publication project that promotes dub and sound system culture across the world selling in every continent and in stores as West as the US and as East as Japan. Founders Jack and Dave have a bag of tunes that always lift the energy everywhere they play.”

To help support our amazing hosts Open Source Arts, we are trying to encourage people to come down earlier and spend more at the bar. We are going to do this by extending the £3 price until 10:30 and increasing the door tax after that to £5.

We are also going to look at a keg of ale on the bar so you have a better range of drinks to choose from. Please let us know if you have any suggestions about what we should get!

#Pubdub started a few years back when The Chemic Tavern was having some financial issues. The Reaction Sound System Crew got together and decided we could help, #Pubdub was born. Once a month we would cram (literally) a pile of speaker boxes into the back room of the struggling pub and tear it up. It was a huge success, full to the brim every month. Eventually, The Chemic Tavern was on a better financial footing and we decided we needed more space so we moved to The Primrose Pub. Since then we’ve tried a few venues and are now settled Open Source Arts in Kirkstall, where we host #Pubdub usually on the 1st Friday of the month. There’s something pretty special about #Pubdub, it’s all about the heavy bass and inclusive, welcoming vibe. We’re a crew that’s unusual in the #Reggae/#Dub world as we’ve got a 50:50 mix of lads and lasses in our DJ and wider crew. We think that’s one of the reasons why our nights are so inclusive.
