Friends, Roasters, Countryfolk – we invite you to join us for a very special pre-christmas cookery workshop at Open Source Arts – in fact it is one of only a few which we are running in December and it is firmly driven by our deep respect for feasting as a basic human right! Please join us for a fantastic evening of cooking followed by a great roast dinner to finish the workshop, where we can sit down together and make a meal of it in fine company!
We invite you to join us on our adventure into all things oven based, where you will learn all the tricks of the trade into how to create a reliable and show-stopping array of roast vegetables, plus some tips on how to treat the turkey if that is your thing.
Participants will join Phil in the kitchen for 3 hours to delve into the true complexities of potatoes, getting the chance to roast them 4 different ways to see what different treatments cause the spuds to turn out like. We will then experiment with the most successful ways to roast root vegetables
so they are full of flavour and have the perfect level of roastedness without being too greasy or dry. Finally we will make a amazing nut roast, which takes no time at all but really hits the spot on christmas day – as well as some non-roast tips on what to do to the greens to really make they jump off the plate.
Participants will get advice every step of the way, including key insights on often overlooked factors including knife skills, oven types and temperatures, vegetable preparation and cutting to the perfect size, what kinds of roasting tins to use, what kind of fats and oils really matter, when to season and how to garnish to real show-stopping quality – it’s a vegetable jungle out there and WE want to help you navigate it to success this nativity.
Tickets cost £10, including the meal at the end and are sold on a strictly first come first served basis! Workshop 17:30 – 21:30.
See you in the kitchen!
