Here at Open Source Arts, we recognise the value of the arts and cultural sector both locally and globally. We also understand the importance of supporting emergent artists and recent graduates to develop their creative practice.

During the pandemic, many artists lost the ability, inspiration, and motivation to be creative, particularly students, as they had no access to their studio spaces anymore. As an arts and community organisation, we continue to create the foundations for emergent and grassroot creatives to thrive. One way we do this is by creating artist studio pods for emergent artists, freelancers, and creatives. We want to help artists get back on their feet post pandemic by rebuilding a sense of belonging to a creative community, provide affordable space and facilities to make and showcase their work and empower, inspire, and motivate emerging artists to be more creative.

Art can be work, and we provide opportunities to make working in the arts a viable career option. We are providing membership rates for classes, workshops, space hire and facilities to support artists to develop their practice. We also host a wide range of activities including artist talks, social/networking events, workshops, and exhibitions, which both studio members and Leeds based creatives can get involved with. These activities help provide the skills and knowledge for artists to develop their practice and enhance the culture of Leeds through creativity and community engagement. We’re excited and keen to support and nourish the artistic and cultural ecosystem of the city.

If you’re looking for a space to develop your artistic practice and be a part of a growing creative community then please do get in touch with us! We have a lovely, welcoming team that would be more than happy to show you round our new studios.
