Yorkshire Circus Opportunities

As part of Yorkshire Circus we operate a fair community agency, aimed at providing opportunity for all involved to share their hard worked circus knowledge and performances with the wider community. Proceeds from this work are shared between the performers and Yorkshire Circus community projects. The community projects are there for all to access and by using money gained through the agency keep them affordable and stable in their continuation. With that in mind we are looking for performers and workshop leaders in a variety of disciplines who wish to have their work marketed through our channels for hire by the general public. We have worked at a large variety of different festivals and events during our existence and look to deliver the highest quality whether it’s for 3 people or 300 people. In return we offer fair paid work for those selected, a training space for you to work in, training opportunities and workshops to learn new and exciting skills to compliment your repertoire and a place in our circus family, running regular community events and a chance to socialise with other like minded circus individuals.

We are looking for people who want to benefit and grow the circus community of Leeds and wider Yorkshire. There are many ways in which this can be done:

  • Professional performers (individual or as a group) from a wide range of circus disciplines, whether it be aerial, fire, LED or general circus walkabout acts and performances. Preferably with a fully costumed ready to perform routine.
  • Workshop leaders who can teach a wide selection of ages and abilities in general circus skills such as juggling, staff twirling, diablo, poi, flower stick and much more.
  • People with the drive to make circus part of their career. Either those wanting to take their first step into circus performance or wanting to share skills with others who may never have tried circus before.

We want to hear from all members of our community, if you can bring something you believe will bring a unique and exciting opportunity that is not covered above please don’t hesitate to contact our Circus Development Officer Joe (joe.ferguson@opensourcearts.co.uk)
